Replying to “Do you feel like people sharing their positive experiences/achievements is helpful in times of difficu...” like everything in life, there needs to be balance... also depends on the kinds of positive experiences... imo the story of a person struggling for 2 years and slowly learning to come out of it is helpful in a difficult time in comparison to the story of a person who achieved like a hundred different things in those 2 years. then timing also matters, sometimes in a difficult time youre looking for hope and a story might help and other times you feel so horrible about yourself and your worth, a positive story might only add on to it

Im slowly but surely falling behind on everything, one lecture at a time, my mind is focused on everything but studying and i cant get myself to do the exercises and they are so hard anyways, I cant do them without help even if i thought i understood everything or know the answer or whatever.. my brain has refused to keep working and i dont think ill be able to keep up and pass anymore... and the thing is i used to love math, i used to love studying and learning new things and doing exercises and finding proofs and stuff and now its just dull and dead and i wonder whats the point of doing anything at all

It's tiri...” Hey yeah thanks the thing is a bunch of the foreigners I met also came with friends from school. I went to a really small school so no chance there for me but yeah I’m just holding out hope it’ll change over the course of this and next semester

Replying to “How many times and how long am i supposed to keep trying to make friends and initiate stuff? It's tiri...” Thanks yeah, the hope that it’ll change and come unexpectedly is what’s keeping me going. And i also don’t really take the verdict on what it might mean if someone doesn’t text or something because there is also a part of me that’s too exhausted and too busy for many social interactions so I get it, it’s just still very frustrating

Replying to “How do you deal with depression? Depressed episodes and still getting stuff done and finding joy a bit...” Ive had depression so long I dont even know anymore... Deadlines help me push to get stuff done, the joy is is not in my hands anymore... When i have really bad episodes for a day or 2 though i usually dont fight it, i drop everything and i can and just try to make it out...

Confession

How many times and how long am i supposed to keep trying to make friends and initiate stuff? It's tiring on top of alrady existing mental health problems and the load of moving to a new city and starting your studies and keeping up and stuff.. ive met so many people and exchanged so many contacts and written to many as well, but why has no one written to me? t the pre study event, i was ditched, guy hadnt even asked for my contact while he asked everyone else, then later on the first semester day it was like everyone was already friends in my group and i was just hanging out alone, and then i was ditched by another group because i didnt speak swiss german it seemed and they made sure to speak in swiss german even though they knew i didnt understand it and then now i had met up with this guy outside of uni and we spoke a bunch and i asked him to hangout again and ive been ghosted.. how long do i keep doing this? its exhausting... im sure somewhere its my fault, maybe i dont seem approachable or something, maybe im an asshole... maybe its the fact i also dont have the emotional energy to invest in new friendships... i can barely wake up in the morning and finish the content and stuff, i cant make it to the lectures on time so no one sees me, even though im at the uni almost all day after that just studying, but of course no one tries to talk to the loner especially now that all the friendships are solidifying and ive been too absent...

Question

Do you get lonely living alone? Living away from home, without friends, in a place where you could disappear and no one would notice for days? How do you deal with it?

Replying to “First days check-in: what was better or worse than you expected?” Everything at the same time pretty much sums it up… friends, studying, living alone, new country for me, finding time for hobbies getting a routine but also keeping up with the studies and being good at them

Replying to “How do people find genuine friends well into their studies?” And the worst is when you find a person or group interesting but they don’t seem to want you around or notice you…

Replying to “Okay first day people: how are we feeling? Excited / confused / already lost on campus?” I know right? Everyone is exchanging numbers and sitting in groups and I’m like, why does everyone know everyone except me? There are people who came up to talk to me and then ditched me like 2 mins after that even so what am I supposed to do?
